“our anxiety does not come from thinking about the future, but from wanting to control it.”

Individual counseling

I provide counseling services to adults experiencing anxiety, stress and significant life transitions, however many of my clients are often dealing with other co-occurring concerns in addition to their anxiety and stress including depression, codependency, grief, trauma, suicidal ideation, perfectionism and low self-esteem. Sessions are 50 minutes in length. For the first few sessions, we will go over initial paperwork and get to know your unique concerns and needs to develop a treatment plan. During this time we can also discuss how frequently you would like to meet. Most clients attend weekly sessions and eventually graduate to biweekly or monthly appointments as they meet their treatment goals and symptoms begin to improve. However, I understand the needs of each individual will differ and I am willing to work with you based on your preferences.

Throughout our sessions you may be assigned homework to complete between sessions. This can include practicing coping skills, tracking symptoms to measure progress or various reading materials and worksheets. While many clients have significant realizations or “breakthroughs” during sessions, you may find this also occurs outside of our sessions together as you continue to process the topics we explore.

While I love working with my clients, counseling is not designed to last forever. The goal of counseling is to recognize how your symptoms have been impacting your life and how to handle them more effectively in the future when similar situations arise. You may “graduate” from counseling and never return or you may find in the future there is additional support needed on your journey. This is normal. You are always welcome to reach back our for additional sessions if needed.
